Everything we know about One Direction’s long-awaited new single

What do we know about One Direction’s new single so far? (Picture: Kevin Mazur/OneD/Getty Images)

It has been a long time since One Direction last released a single.

In fact their last single You & I was released in April and only reached a peak of number 19 in the official UK chart.

The boys have of course been incredibly busy since then. Niall organised a charity football match, they launched their latest perfume and most importantly they have been travelling around the world on their Where We Are tour which reached its final leg this month.

But looking at the dates of their single releases over the past few years, we should be due a new release any time now.

Their past two singles haven’t been that successful compared to their previous ones so they will definitely want to make sure that their next track gets at minimum a top…

Could Arsenal move for Edinson Cavani to stop Manchester United signing Angel Di Maria?

Metro

Edinson Cavani has been linked with a move to Arsenal (Picture: Getty Images)

According to reports in Spain, Arsenal are lining up a move for PSG’s Edinson Cavani in part to stop Manchester United signing Angel Di Maria.

It is, of course, the stuff of fantasy and I could probably get away with just leaving it there but I’m required to write a few more words for this to be considered a post worthy of publishing, so let’s take a closer look.

Arsenal have been linked with a move for Cavani who comes with a price-tag far in excess of anything Arsenal have paid for a player before – £51m. That in itself makes the rumour a little less believable as I’m not entirely sure Arsene Wenger would see it as £51m well spent, despite the statement it would send out.

But if you are to consider the motives…

Olivier Giroud scores delicious goal for Arsenal against Manchester City

Metro

Olivier Giroud scored a stunning second-half goal in Arsenal’s 3-0 Community Shield victory against Manchester City on Sunday.

Santi Cazorla had opened the scoring for The Gunners with his cool finish in the 21st minute before Aaron Ramsey doubled the club’s lead soon afterwards when he netted from Yaya Sanogo’s lay-off.

Giroud then extended the club’s advantage at Wembley after the Frenchman fired a delicious strike, which dipped over City keeper Willy Caballero’s head and into the net in the 61st minute.

The striker’s 25-yard effort ensured that Arsene Wenger’s side ran out 3-0 winners against last season’s Premier League champions in the traditional curtain-raiser at Wembley.

Man’s fame for beating police in doughnut-eating contest sees him arrested for crimes

Metro

(Picture: Getty Images) Bradley Hardison’s doughnut-eating prowess led to his undoing, as a newspaper report about his contest win led to a police officer identifying him as a wanted break-and-enter suspect (Picture: Getty)

Police had the last laugh after they were beaten by a local man in a doughnut-eating contest.

Bradley Hardison, 24, from Elizabeth City in North Carolina, ploughed through eight doughnuts in two minutes in the contest, which was held during an anti-crime event hosted by local police.

But Hardison’s happiness was short-lived. News of his win was published in the local paper and the county’s sheriff recognised Hardison as a suspect in two break-ins.

Camden County Sheriff Lieutenant Max Robeson approached Hardison, saying ‘Congratulations on your win last night’ before arresting him on criminal charges of breaking and entering and injury to real property.

Watch Santi Cazorla give Arsenal the lead against Manchester City in the Community Shield

Metro

Santi Cazorla gave Arsenal the upper hand in the Community Shield with a coolly-taken goal against Manchester City.

The Spaniard broke the deadlock against Manuel Pellegrini’s men after the ball broke to him when Dedryck Boyata fouled Jack Wilshere but referee Michael Oliver waved the advantage.

Cazorla’s effort from just inside the penalty area rolled past Willy Caballero and into the bottom left-hand corner of the City stopper’s goal to give the FA Cup holders the upper hand in the season’s traditional curtain-raiser at Wembley.

Idris Elba wins tonnes of funny points on Twitter as he’s forced to admit big bulge was just a mic wire

Filming of 'A Hundred Streets' in London Featuring: Idris Elba Where: London, United Kingdom When: 05 Aug 2014 Credit: WENN.com Is that a wire in your pocket or are you just happy to see us, Idris? (Picture: WENN.com)

Idris Elba has made us fancy him all over again (*sigh*) after flashing a rather hefty bulge under his trousers, getting loads of attention and then responding in the most hilarious way ever.

The Wire actor whipped up a bit of a frenzy this week when he was pictured filming new movie A Hundred Streets in London.

But forget about what was going on in the film everyone was obsessed with what he appeared to be showcasing underneath his trousers.

And when fans of the 41-year-old actor went wild, Elba realised what had happened and felt the duly need to clear things up.

We kinda wish he hadn’t but we absolutely LOVED his response:

How did he get the job? Apple employee Sam Sung auctions unique business card

He’s was either extremely good at his job, or an employer at Apple wanted to scare the hell out of people in the HR department.

Sam Sung, 25, who spent three years working in the Pacific Centre iStore in Vancouver, is raising an iPopping amount for charity by auctioning off his bizarre business card.

Despite sharing his name with Apple’s main rival, Mr Sung says he had a great time working for the company (what, not even one accusation of industrial espionage?).

After coming across one of his old business cards, he decided to package it up with his old uniform and sell it off to the highest bidder on eBay.

But who would want such a thing? A lot of people…
