David Moyes refuses to rule out Danny Welbeck transfer request after Manchester United crash at Everton

David Moyes has refused to deny reports that Danny Welbeck has asked to leave Manchester United after another demoralising defeat against Everton.

The United boss saw his side officially surrender their Champions League spot for next season after a 2-0 defeat at Goodison Park ensured they could no longer reach the top four.

Earlier in the day reports suggested Welbeck was ready to leave the club after being continually overlooked in his preferred striker’s role, and after a brief 15 minute cameo on the wing against the Toffees, Moyes was quizzed over his striker’s future.

However, rather than denying rumours of a transfer request, Moyes said: ‘I can only tell you Danny’s really important to me and really important to Manchester United.’
