Atletico Madrid are the only side remaining in the Champions League that are yet to lose in the competition this season and any of the remaining clubs would provide a stern test for Chelsea, but Jose Mourinho probably got the outcome he wanted when drawn against Diego Simeone’s La Liga leaders.
To have the second leg at Stamford Bridge is a major boost for Mourinho’s side – especially as they have only conceded one goal in 2014 so far and that was when they took the foot off the gas when 3-0 up against Manchester United in January. If they can keep within touching distance of Atletico in the first leg, then they’ll be confident of finishing the job at home.
