The darkness of Hillsborough gives way to the light of glory for Liverpool

The day began with a deafening silence as they remembered the 96 who never returned from a football match.

It ended with a raucous roar as the reality of the prospect of  their first ever title in the Premier League era hit home following an outstanding 3-2 victory over Manchester City.

The emotions mixed with following football cannot be matched by any other sport around and for fans of Liverpool April 13, 2014 was a day stuffed full of sadness, passion and joy.

This was always going to be a tough weekend for many on Merseyside, the 25th anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy loomed large over Anfield, and it was fitting that the men in the red shirts produced such an exhilarating performance which takes them one match closer to the dream of a 19th championship.
