Every year since the Emirates move they have predicted it will happen – Arsenal will be the team to drop out of the top four.

Usually, they’ll be giving over their position at Europe’s top footballing table to Spurs, so goes the narrative at the start of every season.

First Liverpool dropped out. Then Chelsea. Now it’s United who’ve slid down the table. Spurs never quite made it apart from gatecrashing one year, when they ran amok around the table, causing a little bit of havoc before being ejected by the bouncers and banned from ever returning.
