Just what is the matter with Chelsea’s Oscar?

Oscar established himself as Jose Mourinho’s number 10 early on in the Portuguese manager’s return to Stamford Bridge and managed to see off Chelsea’s back-to-back player of the year Juan Mata. But is it now time to drop him?

The 22-year-old’s place has become a little too safe since Mata departed for Manchester United – where he’s still playing out of position – and Oscar has not been up to standard for a number of months now.

Oscar was highly praised for his form over the early stages of the season by combining the usual role of a playmaker with high work-rate and getting stuck in defensively, but he has only managed one Premier League goal since January 1, and has only made just over a dozen tackles since then too.
