Arsenal should manage Mesut Ozil like Manchester United did Cristiano Ronaldo, says Gary Neville

Former Manchester United captain Gary Neville has jumped to the defence of under-fire Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil after last night’s Champions League exit at Bayern Munich.

The German international was taken off at half-time with a hamstring injury, but was largely anonymous after being forced out wide to make way for the impressive Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Ozil’s performance, once again, drew widespread criticism across social networks, but TV pundit Neville was quick to tell fans to lay off the 25-year-old, and advised that Arsenal should manage their record signing more like United did with Cristiano Ronaldo.

He tweeted: ‘Ozil getting a hard time. He’s obviously dipped this last couple of months and first season in a new league (Xmas football) can take some getting used to even with the price tag.
